Spiti Valley Trip Cost: A Realistic Budget Breakdown
· 2 min read · By Tripsiana Team

Spiti is remote, and that shapes the cost: fuel, logistics and long driving days are a real part of the price. Here is an honest look at what a Spiti Valley trip costs so you can plan without surprises.
The Short Answer
- Group tour (7 to 9 days): roughly ₹16,000 to ₹25,000 per person on twin sharing, covering transport, stays and most meals.
- Private tour: more, for a dedicated vehicle and flexible pace.
- Bike or self-drive expedition: higher again, for the machine, backup and fuel.
What Drives the Cost
Transport
The single biggest expense. Spiti's roads demand a sturdy vehicle and an experienced driver, and the distances are long. Sharing a vehicle across a group is the best way to keep this down.
Accommodation (per night, per person)
- Homestays and guesthouses: ₹1,500 to ₹2,500
- Mid-range hotels (Kaza, Kalpa): ₹3,000 to ₹6,000
- Chandratal camping: included in most packages, tent and sleeping bag provided
Food
Simple, hearty mountain food is inexpensive. Budget ₹500 to ₹1,000 a day for meals not covered by your package. Try thukpa, momos, and butter tea.
Permits
The Kinnaur Inner Line Permit is low-cost and usually arranged by your operator. The Rohtang permit on the Manali side is a small daily fee. Both are typically handled for you.

Sample 10-Day Brackets (per person)
- Budget: ₹30,000 to ₹50,000
- Mid-range: ₹60,000 to ₹90,000
- Comfort: ₹1,00,000 and up
These exclude your travel to the start point (Manali, Shimla, Chandigarh or Delhi).
How to Save
- Travel in a group to split the vehicle cost, by far the biggest line item.
- Choose homestays over hotels for authentic, affordable stays.
- Go in the shoulder season (June or early October) for better rates and fewer crowds.
- Book a package so transport, stays, permits and most meals come in one transparent quote.
